Deeds of Gift (Perry)

Enslaved Persons Named: Suckey [alt: Sucky], Serena, Emily, George

On July 4, 1848, John Perry, Liberty County, gifted to his wife, Lydia Perry, two parcels of land in Liberty County, one 240 acres containing the plantation where John Perry lived, and the other a 200-acre tract previously granted to John Perry, and “three slaves Suckey Serena & Emily, four head of horses & the remainder of stock cattle hogs and sheep, the whole of the household and kitchen furniture plantation tools etc.” She was to have the use of this property for her life, and at his death they were to be equally divided between her three youngest sons, Daniel W. Allen D & Stephen S. Perry. Witnessed by John E. Zoucks, D. Zoucks, J.P. Recorded on July 13, 1848, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk. 

Also on July 4, 1848, John Perry, Liberty County, gifted to his son John O. Perry a 305-acre tract of land in Liberty County “on Birds Branch” with 20 head of stock cattle. Witnessed by John E. Zoucks, D. Zoucks, J.P. Recorded on July 13, 1848, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk. 

Also on July 4, 1848, John Perry, Liberty County, gifted to his son G.W. McAlister Perry “the following property, viz, one negro boy named George about one year old and twenty head stock cattle.” Witnessed by John E. Zoucks, D. Zoucks, J.P. Recorded on July 15, 1848, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.

On July 4, 1848, John Perry, Liberty County, gifted to his son Samuel H. Perry,  a 200-acre tract of land and 20 head of stock cattle. Witnessed by John E. Zoucks, D. Zoucks, J.P. Recorded on July 13, 1848, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
