On April 3, 1848, David A. Miller, Liberty County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $590 to S.C. Ward, New Haven, Connecticut, and “her” heirs, “the following negroe slaves together with their future issue and increase of the females viz. Sary, Lindy, and Grace…” Witnessed by M.C. Calender [alt: Kallender?], G.W. Walthour. Probated by G.W. Walthour. [NOTE: Written on the deed was “Satisfied G.W. Walthour, Agent for Mrs. S. C. Ward. January 4, 1849. Recorded Jany 16th 1849. J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.”]
