“Georgia, Liberty County } This indenture made this first day of February eighteen hundred & forty between Thomas Mallard, John Dunwody, William Q. Baker, Ezra Stacy and William Jones Executors of John Lambert and their successors of the first pat and Wm. S. Baker of said County and State of the second part – Whereas by act of the General Assembly of the State of Georgia passed on the twenty eight day of December eighteen hundred and thirty eight it was enacted that the executors of John Lambert deceased formerly of Liberty County Georgia be and they are hereby authorized to sell the whole of the estate of their testator both real and personal and vest the fund therefrom in stocks or such other property as in their discretion they may deem best due regard being had by them in making this substitution to the intention of the said deceased as declared in his will. Now this indenture witnesseth in persuance of said authority and under and by virtue thereof we Thomas Mallard John Dunwody William Q. Baker Ezra Stacy and William Jones Executor of John Lambert deceased formerly of Liberty County Georgia for and in consideration of the sum of nineteen hundred dollars to us in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereby is acknowledged have granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents do grant bargain sell and convey unto William S. Baker his heirs and assigns all the right title and interest of John Lambert our Testator decd all the right title and interest which we his executors under the said act of the General Assembly of the State of Georgia can or have a right to grant bargain sell and convey to and in the following named Slaves with the issue of the Females viz. Miley, Clarinda, Peggy, Stephen, Mary to have and to hold said Slaves with the issue of the females to him the said William S. Baker his heirs and assigns to the only proper use benefit & behoof of the said William S. Baker his heirs and assigns forever witness our hands and seals this first day of February Eighteen hundred and forty. “ Witnessed by W.E.W. Quarterman, S. Spencer J.I.C.L.C.

“I transfer all the within named property together with all their future issue and increase & also their increased numbers to this date from the first purchase of said property having been bought for the minors of Thomas Baker deceased and titles in my name and now having received their full value from said minors the said property is now transferred to said minors their own proper use and benefit forever this 10th April 1848.” Signed by Wm. S. Baker, and witnessed by B.W. Allen, G.W. Dunham, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded on April 10, 1848, by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk.
