Enslaved Persons Named: Peggy, Israel

On February 8, 1830, Samuel Stevens, planter of Liberty County, gifted to his “stepdaughter Ann Baker the wife of Richard S. Baker of said State and County” “two little negro slaves named Peggy and Israel toegether with their future issue and increase.” They were to be held in trust for her by Richard S. Baker. Witnessed by Robert S. Wheeler, Thos. [Thomas] Bacon Sen. Probated before W.E.W. Quarterman, Justice of the Liberty County Superior Court in October 1847. Recorded by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk, on October 14, 1847.
