Bill of Sale (Wilder/Dunham)

Enslaved Person Named: Lavinia, Candice, unnamed infant

On May 3, 1847, E.E. Pynchon, E.W. Russell, John Cunningham Jr, on behalf of Ann D. Wilder [or Wilden], sold to Thomas K. Dunham, Camden County, for $1300 “negro slave to wit Lavinia and Candice and her infant child.” The sale was based on a marriage settlement dated August 17, 1841, between John R. Wilder of Savannah and his wife Ann Drucilla Wilder, formerly Ann Drusilla Lewis, in which John Wilder put into trust for Ann the aforementioned “slaves,” with the trustees being E.E. Pynchon, E.W. Russell, and John Cunningham Jr.  That marriage settlement is to be found in the Clerk’s office of Liberty County Superior Court. Witnesses T.G. Dana, R.R. Raiford, J.P. Deed dated April 23, 1847, and recorded in Liberty County by J.S. Bradwell, Clerk, on October 12, 1847.
