On July 4, 1848, John Perry, Liberty County, gifted to his son John O. Perry “a certain portion of negro property, namely one negro woman named Sarah about sixteen years old and her child Rose about one year and six months old.” Witnessed by F. Sapp, Richard Clark, Stephen S. Perry. Signed by John Perry [his mark]. Probated by Richard Clark on August 20, 1859, and recorded on August 24, 1859, by S.A. Fraser, Clerk.
