“White Sulphur Springs, Ga, Decr 23d, 1858. Dear Brother, I apply to you as my Trustee and request you would sell a negro slave named Ben that fell to me at the division of the Estate of Mrs. H.M. Varnedoe and put the money at interest or reinvest it in another younger negro for my benefit according to the provision of the marriage contract. Signed in presence of Joel W. Lee. Matilda Crawford.” Probated by Rufus A. Varnedoe on January 10, 1859. Recorded on January 13, 1859, by S.A. Fraser, Clerk.
