Enslaved Persons Named: Smart

On November 19, 1858, William P. Girardeau, Liberty County, gifted to his daughter Mary E. Fennell, wife of John N. Fennell, Liberty County, through her trustees, James R. Bird and John E. Girardeau, Liberty County, “a negro man named Smart a slave about twenty five years of age.” Put in trust for her and conditions of inheritance specified. Witnessed by J.W. Farmer, Edward Wilkinson, S.A. Fraser, C.S.C.L.C. Recorded on December 21, 1858, by S.A. Fraser, Clerk.
