Enslaved Persons Named: Lucy, Charlotte

On July 29, 1857, John V. Wells, Bryan County, used as collateral on a promissory note of $347 to Henry Long, of the same place, “the following property to wit two certain negroes Lucy and her child Charlotte both of yellow complexion Lucy about thirty years old and Charlotte about ten years old.” Witnessed by James C. Tyson, G.J. Goodson, J.I.C.B.C. Recorded by S.A. Fraser, Clerk, on September 12, 1857.
