On April 22, 1856, Benjamin S. Screven used as collateral on a promissory note of $1281 to George W. Walthour, both of Liberty County, “the following negro slaves to wit, Moses, Stephen, Raca & her two children London & Rachel.” Witnessed by W.Q. Baker, Jno. B. Mallard. Recorded on May 6, 1856, by S.A. Fraser, Clk.
