Enslaved People Named: Sandy, Thomas

On August 2, 1862, Harriet S. Handley, Liberty County, used as collateral on a debt of $744 to Charles S. McKinnie, Liberty County, “certain negroes namely Sandy of dark complection and about thirty years of age, and Thomas of light complection and about twenty five years of age…” She warranted that “the said Negroes are in sound health both of body and mind…” Witnessed by R.H. Quarterman, James D. McConnell, Notary Public. Recorded on August 8, 1862, by S.A. Fraser, Clerk.
