On March 4, 1862, Wm. John Way, Liberty County, used as collateral on a debt of $780 to Charlotte C. Morrall, Liberty County, “a certain negro by the name of  Newman about twenty one years of age and a certain negro by the name of Seaborn about nineteen years of age, both of said negroes being sound and well.” Witnessed by E.B. Way, James D. McConnell, Notary Public. Recorded on May 28, 1862, by S.A. Fraser, Clerk. [NOTE: Marked as “Satisfied. S.S. ?Bonnard? Agent for Mrs. C.C. Morrall. 28 Apr. 1863.
