Enslaved Persons Named: Peter, Salome, Caesar, Little Peter, Salina, Florida

On April 20, 1861, William M. Stevens, Liberty County, used as collateral on a debt of $1250 to Peter W. Fleming, guardian for Taylor Walthour, both of Liberty County, “the following named negro Slaves: Peter, aged about forty years, Salome aged forty, Caesar aged twenty. Little Peter, aged seventeen, Salina, aged thirteen years, Florida aged about eleven years, with the issue of the females.” Witnessed by Josiah H. Law, E.J. Delegal, J.S. Fleming. Probated by J.S. Fleming before Jno. B. Mallard, C.I.C.L.C., on April 23, 1861. Recorded on May 17, 1861, by Jesse Brewer, Clerk. [NOTE: Written on the document was “Satisfied in full this 10 March 1863. P.W. Fleming, Guardian T. Walthour. Entered this 18th March 1863. S.A. Fraser, Clerk.”
