On April 20, 1861, Edward J. Delegal, Liberty County, used as collateral on a debt of $750 to Peter W. Fleming, guardian of Robt. H. Walthour, both of Liberty County: “the following named negro slaves, with the issue of the females (viz): James aged about sixteen, Rachael, about seventeen, and Margaret, about sixteen years, March aged twenty years.” Witnessed by Wm. M. Stevens, Josiah H. Law, J.S. Fleming. Probated by J.S. Fleming on April 23, 1861, before Jno. B. Mallard, J.I.C.L.C. Recorded on May 17th, 1861, by Jesse Brewer, Clerk.
