Enslaved People Named: Diana, Ishmael, Beck, Sally, Cato

Lachlan McIntosh used as collatera l“the five following Negroes viz. Diana, a wench, and Ishmael and Beck her children Sally, a wench, and Cato, a lad…”  for a debt to John Peter Wagnon, Esq. on October 13, 1797.  Executed at Elkton, Maryland.  Memorandum recorded with instrument, signed by Wagnon, whereby he agrees to pay a “demand” of $419.00 due by McIntosh and to accept refund for same at anytime within 4 months, in which event said Bill of Sale to be void.
