“Georgia, Liberty Co. Know all men by these presents that I J. W. Turner of the County and State aforesaid, do, on this the fourth day of January, Eighteen Hundred and Sixty, give, grant & convey to my Daughter, Martha Eliza Allelia Turner as a Birth-Day gift – one certain negro woman, a slave, by name Rosella, aged about Twenty years, with all the heirs of her body, reserving, nevertheless, to myself the right of controlling said property from the hire thereof, as I may see proper for the support and education of said Martha A.E. Turner, until she arrive at the age of twenty-one years: to have and to hold said negro woman with all and singular, her increase unto said Martha E.A. Turner, her legal heirs and assigns forever.” Witnessed by J.J. Daniel, E. Daniel, J.I.C.L.C.  Recorded on 3 November 1860 by Jesse Brewer, C.S.C.L.C.
