John Pomeroy, Liberty County, sold to Mrs. Dorothea C. Schmidt, of Liberty County for $291 on August 7, 1797: “…a negro wench named Kate with her child Caroline and her future issue and increase.”Witnessed by M. VanYeveren. Recorded on 19 September 1797 by Josiah Steuart.
