Will Summary (published 1964)

Elizabeth Munroe of Sunbury, widow. Last Will and Testament, dated November 4, 1807, probated March 7, 1808. Devises to her grandchildren, Barbara Harriet McIver, Alexander McIver and Euphemia McIver, all of her slaves except one slave to her (testatrix’) daughter, Anna Rogers. To her nephew Charles West, she gives a certain farm or plantation, also West Island in the Altamaha River. Also to Anna Rogers, lots 11 and 12 in Sunbury, being the homeplace of testatrix. To her granddaughter Elizabeth Smith, she gives bay lot #10 in Sunbury. All household goods to go to said Anna, and to testatrix’ daughter Amarintha Stevens and to granddaughter the said Barbara H. McIver. All livestock to said above-named legatees. To the McIver grandchildren aforesaid she gives a tract of land “on the Main Road,” to said Elizabeth Smith a certain other tract of land. Executors: John Elliott, Esq., Col. Daniel Stewart. Witnesses: Mary McWhir, W. McWhir, James Holmes. The said Holmes at probate of the will, testified that errors were made in drawing the will and were not corrected when signed; and says that the bequest in 9th item of will which reads to Elizabeth Smith, should have read to Senor (or Semor, not plain) Smith, the name Elizabeth having been written in being a mistake on his part.
