Will Summary (published 1964)
Josiah Osgood of Liberty County, planter. Last Will and Testament dated December 30, 1802; probated May 2, 1803. To his son Samuel Osgood be given his homeplace where he, testator, lives, adjoining lands of his brother John Osgood and William Peacock. The following tracts of land to be drawn for by lot by his daughter Mary, son Josiah’s children, and grandson, William A. Graham: Tract on the Canoochee River, tract on Altamaha River on lower end of Beard’s Bluff, two tracts in Glynn County, on Turtle River adjoining each other and adjoining Samuel Fulton. He directs that 311 acres owned by him in McIntosh County on Bruce’s Neck, and 300 acre-tract adjoining Matthew Bennett estate, be sold. To his daughter Mary he gives slaves; to his grandchildren Mary F. Osgood, MaryAnn Osgood, William A. Graham, Matthew Bennett, Sarah O. Bennett, he gives a slave each. To his nephew, John Fulton $20.00. Directs that James Graham have the property devised James’ son, William A. Graham, until the latter is of age or marries. He appoints his friend William Fleming, nephew John Osgood as testamentary guardians for his grandchildren who are or may become fatherless. Executors: Brother, John Osgood; friend, William Fleming; son-in-law, James Graham; nephew John Osgood and son Samuel Osgood. Witnesses: Elijah Lewis, Samuel Lewis, Thomas Lanchester.
