John N. Wood of Liberty County. Last Will and Testament dated Feb. –, 1786. Probated April 24, 1795. Gives to his sister, Hester Wood, to brother, Jacob Wood, each to receive slaves but slaves are to remain with testator’s mother Catherine Wood as long as she lives. Executors: Testator’s father Joseph Wood, and brothers Henry Wood and Jacob Wood. Witnesses: John W. Graves, James Carter, Hepworth Carter. Probated on oath of Carter.

“To my sister Hester Wood a Negroe Woman called Sylv?a [possibly Sylva, Sylvia or Sylvea] & to my brother Jacob Wood a Negro boy called Jack both of the above Negroes I brought of Capt. ?Nuvale? & to my sister Elizabeth Wood I give a Negroe girl called Phoebe [alt: Phebe] with this restriction & condition that the above Negroes are to remain with & under the direction of my mother [looks more like Catholina than Caroline and there is a family tree on Ancestry that has Catholina as his mother’s name] during her life or so long as she may choose to keep them…”
