John Hext of South Carolina, Last Will and Testament dated November 26, 1785, probated January 15, 1787, in Charleston District, S.C. [South Carolina]. Certified copy dated January 29, 1796, by the Secretary of State of S.C. [South Carolina]. Devises to wife (unnamed) his slaves and household goods. Remainder of estate to wife and his two daughters Eliza and Maria Hext and any child his wife may now be pregnant with. Executor: Wife to be sole executrix as long as she is a widow; if she should marry, then his brothers Roger Parker Saunders and John Gough and kinsmen Thomas Parker and John Parker Jr., to be the executors, and also guardians of testator’s children. Witnesses: Charles Lowndes, Hugh Ferguson, Samuel Jacob Axson. Probated on oath of Charles Lowndes.
