Edward Sumner of Liberty County. Last Will and Testament, dated May 18, 1789; probated January 18, 1790. Gives to sister, Sallie Mell; to brother-in-law, Joseph Way; to nephew, Joseph Bacon when of age and if he dies before 21 or marriage, then his legacy to go to testator’s brother, Thomas Sumner. Gives to sister, Nancy Winn, to sister Elizabeth Sumner; to nephew, Edward Sumner the home-place of testator, when of age or married, and if he said Edward Sumner the legatee dies before 21 or marriage then his legacy to go to his father Thomas Sumner, brother of testator. Executors: Thomas Sumner, brother; Peter Winn; nephews Thomas and Edward Sumner. Witnesses: John McCree, James Girardeau, Archibald Christy. Probated on oath of Girardeau.
